It was the first completely newly developed car launched since Bentley joined the Volkswagen Group in 1998.
The large coupe body was powered by Volkswagen’s 6-liter W-12 twin-turbo engine, and the car’s four-wheel drive became its identity.
Priced in the mid 20 million yen range, it was a luxury car with all the luxuries of a luxury car and had an image of being unrelated to motorsports, but for the second generation, a homologation model, the Continental GT3, was introduced to meet the GT3 regulations set by the FIA.
The Continental GT3 is a major modification to the production car, reducing its weight from over 2 tons to nearly 1 ton, and changing its drive system from the production car’s 4-wheel drive to rear-wheel drive.
Hot Wheels used the GT3 version of the third-generation Continental GT, which was introduced in 2017, as its motif.
