The MG Metro 6R4 was developed and introduced by British Leyland in the World Rally Championship (WRC), which was contested by Group B machines that were fully enforced from 1983. It was based on the Rover Metro, a small car that first appeared in 1980. It is said that Patrick Head, technical director of F-1’s main team, Williams Grand Prix Engineering, was involved in its development. Based on the Metro monocoque, the latter half of the car is equipped with a new steel pipe frame, and a V-type 8-cylinder engine is installed in the midship. the engine is a naturally aspirated aluminum 90-degree V6 2991cc. The drive system adopted full-time 4WD. It made its debut in the final race of the 1985 season, and entered the 1986 World Rally Championship. After that, it moved to the Pikes Peak Hill Climb and played an important part.
This model kit of the MG Metro 6R4 is fully detailed, including the engine. The enthusiastic mechanism of the Group B machine is precisely modeled, in the body and the engine mounted on the midship. The body has a wide over fender, front wing and rear spoiler unique to Group B machines, giving it a powerful style. The 4WD mechanism that can be distributed from the transmission to the front and back is reproduced as well. The cockpit features separate parts for the rally equipment on the dashboard, footrests on the floor, and tools such as fire extinguishers and wrenches. Decals by Cartograf are included for car no. 11, Malcolm Wilson’s machine that participated in the 1986 WRC opening round, the Monte Carlo Rally. In addition to the basic plastic parts, the set includes photo-etched detail parts, seat belt materials, and a masking sheet for painting the window frames. Order yours today!
