The JB23 is the third-generation Jimny off-road four-wheel-drive vehicle that has been sold for 20 years, from the introduction of the first model in 1998 to the tenth model. Up until then, the straight-line box style was changed to a more founded shape, but in terms of mechanisms such as the ladder frame and rigid axle suspension, it followed its predecessor, improving both off-road and on-road driving performance.

This model kit from Fujimi of the Suzuki Jimny JB23 is designed on the final minor-change tenth model, the special-edition Land Venture, which was launched in 2014. This later version features a thicker hood, and is equipped with the LV’s characteristic side garnish and rear tire cover. This kit does not require painting — the parts are molded in color! Gluing is also not necessary. The boxy body shape is reproduced with a slide mold, and the front, rear and roof are standard structures that are laminated and fitted to the body parts. The hood intake reproduces its depth, and is made of separate parts; the front grille has a two-layer structure for depth, and the radiator in the back is also included. The lower part of the vehicle features a structure where the ladder frame is a single part and additional parts are attached; the leading arm, trading arm, front and rear differential gear cases and drive shaft are all separate parts. The headlight lens is delicately shaped; the main and small light bulbs of the headlight unit are reproduced with delicate engraving, and the back of the lens is three-dimensional. The driver’s side and passenger side windows have separate designs for the glass and frame, and the side and rear window glued parts feature fitted glass for a realistic finish. The rear window defogger is delicately engraved, and the lenses of the side turn lamps and reverse lights are made with clear parts.
