Many a celebrated driver has slid behind the wheel of the No. 8 car since the beginning of NASCAR. And in the Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway, Tyler Reddick will pay homage to one of the best — Jeff Burton. For one race only, Reddick’s No. 8 Cat Power Chevrolet will pay homage to Burton’s No. 8 Raybestos Brakes paint scheme that he accepted the 1994 Rookie of the Year trophy with. It was one of the most colorful cars on the track and it was a launching pad for Burton, who would go on to drive the Caterpillar car for Richard Childress Racing and amass 21 wins in his NASCAR Cup Series career.
