Manufacturers also develop GT3 category machines, and the R8 GT3 is based on the R8 mid-engine sports car. The first R8 was sold in 2009, and in 2015, the R8 LMS/GT3 was introduced, based on the second-generation R8. It’s equipped with a 5.2-liter V-type 10-cylinder midship engine producing 500 horsepower; it showed excellent performance. In November 2015, GT3 machines from around the world gathered in Macau; the GT3 World Cup by FIA was held during the Macau Grand Prix, and Audi participated through both the European and Hong Kong teams.
