The Ford Ranchero pickup was introduced in 1957, and was originally based on the Fairlane full-size sedan. The second generation began in 1960, and was based on the Falcon; it retained that car’s compact size, stylish body design and good fuel economy. Widely used from suburban ranches to downtown, the Ranchero became a highly popular pickup truck; it was also frequently used as a base by customizers.
AMT/ERTL’s model kit of the Ford Ranchero features a 1960-type front grille, headlights, turn signals and wheel covers. The V8 engine is fully reproduced under the hood, and the suspension, chassis and interior are also highly detailed.
