The Civic, introduced in 1972 with its first generation, quickly cleared the strict emission regulations known as the Muskie Act, gaining high praise as an environmentally friendly and high-performance compact car. It helped establish Honda’s clever and sporty image in the United States.
With each model change, the Civic has continued to enhance its popularity and reputation. Although its popularity remains strong in the current 11th generation, the Civic, which started as a compact car, has gradually increased in size over the years due to factors such as the strengthening of U.S. crash safety standards. Despite this trend, many fans still appreciate the ‘smaller days’ of the Civic.
